Bamboo Waste Scientific Disposal Project, Nagpur
Project Overview
In partnership with the Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board (MBDB), our team set up a pilot Fast Pyrolysis unit in Nagpur, Maharashtra, designed specifically to tackle bamboo agro waste, a significant contributor to rural biomass burning.
The goal:
- Convert waste bamboo into bio oil, LDO, activated charcoal & syngas
- Prove market demand for these products
- Create rural jobs while reducing pollution
Our Technology In Action
Input
- Bamboo agro waste, sourced locally under MBDB.
Process
- Shredded, dried to <10% moisture
- Fed into our patented Fast Pyrolysis reactor
- Heated to 500-550°C in oxygen-free environment
Outputs
- Bio-Oil: Sold to local industries as furnace oil alternative
- Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Further refined via collaboration with LIT Nagpur
- Activated Charcoal: Tested by NEERI and LIT for adsorption & soil improvement
- Syngas: Used to run parts of the system, lowering external fuel needs
- Organic Pesticides: Collected condensate used by farmers
